Our sincerest congratulations to long-time ERA champion Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) for winning the powerful position of Chair of the Oversight Committee in the House of Representatives. She takes over from the late Elijah Cummings, who died last month. She becomes the first woman Chair of the Committee. Cheers!
It was thrilling to sit in the House Judiciary Committee Hearing Room today for Chairman Nadler’s impassioned opening–and to hear so many strong and moving remarks on why we need the Equal Rights Amendment from Committee members. And then, a resounding vote of approval for removing the time limit. We hope you will watch the proceedings here.
We have more good news! The House Judiciary will mark up the removal of the deadline bill next Wednesday, November 13th at 10 A.M. This is tremendous news.
We are celebrating a sweet victory today: pro-ERA legislators have been swept into power in Virginia. Congratulations to them. We are eager to begin work on Virginia becoming the historic 38th state to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment.
