ERA Coalition Statement on SCOTUS Decision Overturning Roe v. Wade

“Today is truly a turning point for the civil rights of everyone in this country. Upending established precedent and mounting one of the most damaging assaults on our constitutional rights in nearly 50 years makes us all less in control of our bodies. This decision is unjust and diminishes us all. We will not have full equality in this country until every person truly has the right to control their body and, in turn, participate fully and equally in our society, politics, and economy.

As we continue our fight towards the constitutional protections of those on the account of sex, many new companies, businesses, individuals, and organizations have followed suit and joined forces to become members of the ERA Coalition. As a show of our gratitude and continued support, we would like to take a moment to lift up our newest members this month, and spotlight a few of them.

Events for Juneteenth Weekend

Our friends at the Poor Peoples’ Campaign, Planned Parenthood, and other organizations have launched movements in the wake of a new wave of attacks on womens’ rights and worker protections. Listed below are just some of the upcoming actions initiated by the movement and supported amongst our partners this weekend, with a special call to action from our partner organization NAPAWF and an event hosted by Black-led organizations for Juneteenth.

ERA Coalition Announces Elect Equality Campaign to Inform Voters About Candidate Commitment to Equality

Today, the ERA Coalition announced Elect Equality, a new campaign to provide voters with the opportunity to hear directly from candidates across the country about their position on the Equal Rights Amendment. The ERA Coalition will send surveys to all federal candidates and to state legislature candidates in the 10 states that have not yet ratified the ERA and also have elections this year.

ERA Coalition / Fund For Women’s Equality Launches Digital Hub Centering Historically Underrepresented Voices

Today, The ERA Coalition / Fund for Women’s Equality announced Equal Voice | Equal Future, a new digital hub to elevate the voices of historically underrepresented communities. Equal Voice | Equal Future is the brainchild of women and gender expansive people of color, and puts the voices of young people, LGBTQIA+ people, BIPOC, and other underrepresented communities front and center to tell their first-hand stories for the purpose of influencing policymakers and fueling economic and cultural change in support of these communities — including enshrining the Equal Rights Amendment in the Constitution.
