House Judiciary Committee Votes 21-11 to Remove the Time Limit Set in the Preamble of the 1972 Equal Rights Amendment (ERA)
It was thrilling to sit in the House Judiciary Committee Hearing Room today for Chairman Nadler’s impassioned opening–and to hear so many strong and moving remarks on why we need the Equal Rights Amendment from Committee members. And then, a resounding vote of approval for removing the time limit. We hope you will watch the proceedings here.
We have more good news! The House Judiciary will mark up the removal of the deadline bill next Wednesday, November 13th at 10 A.M. This is tremendous news.
We are celebrating a sweet victory today: pro-ERA legislators have been swept into power in Virginia. Congratulations to them. We are eager to begin work on Virginia becoming the historic 38th state to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment.
