It was a momentous week for the House of Representatives. First, the loss of Congressman John Lewis. He was for over thirty years the voice of nonviolence and equal rights in Congress. He crossed the Pettus Bridge for the last time–in a horse drawn carriage–and lies in state in the U.S. Capitol today.
Tell the Senate to Vote for Equality!
On February 13th, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to pass HJ Res 79, the bill to remove the time limit from the 1972 ERA, with bipartisan support. The ERA Coalition, the national organization representing more than 100 organizations, leaders across the country, allied organizations and millions of women and men, now calls on the U.S. Senate to vote to pass its companion bill, SJ Res 6, without delay.

Breaking: Women’s Movement Brief for the ERA
Another big step forward today in the ERA movement! The ERA Coalition, its members and supporters, filed an amicus brief in support of the suit filed by the Attorneys General of Nevada, Illinois and Virginia to compel the Archivist to publish the ERA to the Constitution.
