Are they coming for us next? How the Dobbs decision affects the LGBTQ community


Minutes after the leaked Dobbs decision and again this morning after the official SCOTUS decision was shared, I received texts and emails from clients and friends asking “are we next?” At first this took me back to the post-Prop 8 days, when we suffered a huge blow on the trajectory to gaining marriage rights and had no idea what was our immediate way forward. But this is much different.

“Today is truly a turning point for the civil rights of everyone in this country. Upending established precedent and mounting one of the most damaging assaults on our constitutional rights in nearly 50 years makes us all less in control of our bodies. This decision is unjust and diminishes us all. We will not have full equality in this country until every person truly has the right to control their body and, in turn, participate fully and equally in our society, politics, and economy.

Our friends at the Poor Peoples’ Campaign, Planned Parenthood, and other organizations have launched movements in the wake of a new wave of attacks on womens’ rights and worker protections. Listed below are just some of the upcoming actions initiated by the movement and supported amongst our partners this weekend, with a special call to action from our partner organization NAPAWF and an event hosted by Black-led organizations for Juneteenth.

ERA Coalition Announces Elect Equality Campaign to Inform Voters About Candidate Commitment to Equality


Today, the ERA Coalition announced Elect Equality, a new campaign to provide voters with the opportunity to hear directly from candidates across the country about their position on the Equal Rights Amendment. The ERA Coalition will send surveys to all federal candidates and to state legislature candidates in the 10 states that have not yet ratified the ERA and also have elections this year.
