Yesterday was a huge day for the ERA!
Our event — Electing Equality: The Final Push for the Equal Rights Amendment — had almost 2000 people pre-registered or watching live on Facebook. Our virtual allied organization event at the DNC, co-sponsored with our lead organization the Feminist Majority, had a tremendous response. In addition to showing up for the ERA, attendees sent in hundreds of questions. This is all good news for an equal future for all Americans.
This November we must all vote, but we must vote for pro-ERA candidates. The fate of the ERA rests on what we do at the ballot-box.
We’ve heard from many of our supporters who were overwhelmingly positive about the full two-hour event. It can be found on our Facebook page: Electing Equality: The Final Push for the ERA and on our YouTube channel.
Eleanor Smeal, Co-Founder and President of the Feminist Majority, and I were delighted to host this event with these outstanding panelists:
Dolores Huerta – Activist and Co-Founder of United Farm Workers.
Senator Pat Spearman – Nevada State Senator.
Tina Tchen – Former Director of the Office for Women and Girls in the Obama White House.
Alyssa Milano – Actor, Activist, ERA Coalition Advisory Council Member.
Kimberly Peeler-Allen – Board Chair of the ERA Coalition.
S. Mona Sinha – Board Chair of the Fund for Women’s Equality.
In addition to that spectacular lineup, our special guests included:
SJ Res 6 lead co-sponsor Senator Ben Cardin (MD), Senator Tammy Baldwin (WI), Congresswoman Barbara Lee (CA-13), HJ Res 79 lead sponsor Congresswoman Jackie Speier (CA-14), Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal (WA-07), Congresswoman Deb Haaland (NM-01), Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29), Virginia State Senator Jennifer McClellan, and Virginia Delegate Jennifer Carroll Foy.
Our sincere thanks to everyone who attended. If you haven’t seen it yet, be sure to watch and let us know your thoughts using #ElectingEquality on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
