On Monday, January 27th we will be in Richmond for the final celebration of Virginia’s vote to become the 38th and final state needed for ratification of the ERA. Each chamber of the Virginia General Assembly–the House of Delegates and the Senate–will vote on the other’s ERA resolution that passed last Wednesday, January 15th. This final determination will be sent on to the Archivist.

An extraordinary day, nearly a century in the making, nearly half a century since Congress passed the Equal Rights Amendment and states began the ratification process: something really big to put in the DONE! category–the state of Virginia today voted to become the 38th state to ratify the ERA.

Today Chief Patron House Delegate Jennifer Carroll Foy’s ERA resolution HJ 1 was voted out of the House Privileges and Elections Committee by a vote of 13-9. The ERA had been stopped there many times before.

(December 18, 2019) New York, NY — The filing of a lawsuit by Alabama’s Attorney-General to stop the Equal Rights Amendment is a shameful effort to keep women from gaining Constitutional equality. 94% of Americans support the ERA – 99% of millennials who all believe that it is time to end second class citizenship for women who were intentionally left out of the Constitution more than two hundred years ago.
